DEVELOPING A WEBSITE APPLICATION

A website application is a software tool to present information over the Internet to meet the needs of groups of people. A particular website is a collection of information (web pages) about the various topics that comprise the overall purpose and objectives of the website. Each web page is organized to present the content clearly and concisely. The web pages are organized to make it easy to navigate among them. Website applications are important tools for communicating electronically with an organization's customers.

You should follow a three-phase approach to create a website application: analysis, design, and implementation.

In the analysis phase, you need to understand as well as you can the intended purpose of the website application, especially the information needs and expectations of the intended users of the website. You need to identify the website's topical content and the overall content structure, usually a hierarchy of topics. You need to think about an intuitive, easy-to-understand navigation scheme among the web pages. You need to identify the desired look and feel for the website as a whole.
