The Museum für Naturkunde (MfN), occasionally called the Naturkundemuseum, is the largest museum of natural history in Germany. The collections are so extensive that less than 1 in 5000 specimen is exhibited. A room with skeletons of domestic cattle is one of many that houses the un-exhibited specimen, only accessible by museum staff and visiting scientists and researchers.

During a 30-second exposure, I painted light, using two strobes simultaneously for quicker recycling. Several strobes were fired toward both the ceiling and the skulls from different directions so that the light appeared softer and didn’t cast one distinct shadow. ...
