ASTANA, KAZAKHSTAN
Weekend nights between 1:00 and 3:00 a.m. is the busiest time in Astana’s nightclubs, where dance floors are packed and bars are dominated by go-go girls and hookah smokers.
A multitude of light sources exist in this image. Mine comes from a blue-gelled, on-camera strobe that I focused on the upper body of the hookah-smoking woman, thereby separating her from the red background.
