On the night before Epiphany, observant Orthodox Christians bathe in the icy waters of a cross-shaped pool near Zhivopisnaya Street. A couple warms themselves by a fire after their swim.
While the light emanating from the fire exudes comfortable warmth, my cool strobe light, directed toward the snow-covered tree and the icy pool, helps accentuate the actual temperature.
