Inserting hyperlinks – how it works

With MindManager you can attach only one link to each branch. To do this, highlight the branch concerned and use the [Ctrl]+[K] key combination or the relevant button in the Insert symbols bar. A dialogue window then opens, as shown in Figure 10-5.

To the right of the line Link To there are four small buttons which you can use to activate different kinds of link. Links to websites can also be typed directly onto the lines and MindManager automatically recognises that this is an internet address.

If you insert a hyperlink to an existing file, the lower part of the dialogue box comes into play. Here you’ll find two types of hyperlink:

check.png Relative: Relative in this context means that MindManager memorises the position of the link target relative to the position of the file you’ve opened. For example, if you’ve stored your file in the Work folder on your hard-drive and now link to a file located in the Work|Relocation folder, MindManager notices that your target file is in the Relocation folder and that this a sub-folder of the Work folder. If you then decide to copy your current Mind Map to another folder on your hard-drive and activate the hyperlink with this name on your Mind Map, MindManager searches for a sub-folder ...
