Pictures: Unique and unforgettable

Visual information plays a central role in our brains. In recent years this realisation has also become noticeable in many areas of our everyday lives, perhaps as a result of technical innovations. Examples are:

check.png Modern editions of school textbooks include significantly more illustrations and graphic elements than a few years ago.

check.png Newspapers and magazines are less inclined to present their content as blocks of text but rather as pictures and visualisations.

check.png More and more lecturers are using pictures and graphics to support their verbal content.

To return again to the example of talks and lectures: Figures 4-1 and 4-2 show two PowerPoint slides, both of which are supposed to express the same thing.
