Physical MIMO Channel Models For Performance Simulation

The goal of Chapter 3 was to derive analytical representations of the MIMO channel, to be used when designing smart antenna techniques. A second motivation to channel modeling is to simulate the performance of signal processing techniques with realistic antenna arrays in specific environments. In the present chapter, we review a large number of physical models as well as the most popular standardized channel models. Doing so, we will try to highlight the main advantages and weaknesses of each model, identifying the required assumptions and input parameters.
