Skiing is a wonderful family sport, and when we all took it up, I quickly learned about the cult of skiing, the lodge, après ski, and so on. Nonetheless, I haven’t engaged in many sports where, by the time you get to the starting line (the top of the hill), you’re already exhausted (don the equipment, get the tickets, get on the line, ride the lift, prepare for the descent …).
