1 I’ve always called this the ambiguous zone, but a very good consultant and writer by the name of William Bridges has called it the neutral zone. I think it’s more than neutral, since there is perceived danger there.

2 I couldn’t make this up: some bozo wanted me to coach him to market a dramatic “breakthrough” business process, but refused to divulge to me (or anyone else) what it was for fear of theft. I told him that he could pay me to coach him, but I wouldn’t reveal my coaching methods, so he would have to assume that he was being coached.

3 This is where a “prior life” can often get in your way. Shake off the belief that coaching clients won’t provide endorsements, or that it’s somehow “inappropriate” to ask for them. I will guarantee ...
