Nearly twenty years ago, when I began writing my first book on how to create one-page business plans, I had an inkling the book might do very well—even if I couldn’t get a publishing house behind it. In 1994, four years after I had left the big-company world, I gave five public presentations on my idea—that the best business plans were short yet cogent. The following year, I was asked to do fifteen speeches, and my audiences began asking for the book version of the idea. In my mind, some of the “asking” bordered on “demanding.”
