Customization: It’s Back

When Word 2007 was released, many people complained because the Ribbon was not easily customizable. You could customize the Quick Access toolbar via the Word Options dialog box, but further Ribbon customization required special utilities and an understanding of XML.

With Word 2010, Microsoft has listened to customer feedback and provided a robust way of customizing the Ribbon. You can not only make the customization changes from Word 2007, such as changing what’s on the status bar and Quick Access toolbar, but you can add your own custom groups to Ribbon tabs, and you can even create your own tabs.
