Rooting Out Spyware

Cleaning a computer that's been infected with spyware can be a long, difficult, and frustrating task. If you're lucky enough to notice the unwanted software immediately, removal might be as simple as visiting Add Or Remove Programs in Control Panel and then using System Restore to roll back to a previous configuration. But the job is much more complicated if the program includes a Trojan horse component that has downloaded additional software, especially when some of the components have been specifically designed to reinstall themselves upon removal. Unless you find and remove every trace of every unwanted program, you'll probably see some of the software again.
