Managing Java Applets

A Java applet is a component written in Java, a cross-platform programming language created by Sun Microsystems. Unlike ActiveX controls, Java applets are not compiled to native Windows code. Rather, they run within a "virtual machine" (VM)—a software environment that emulates a hypothetical "native" Java computer.

Downloaded Java applets, like downloaded ActiveX controls, are listed in your %SystemRoot%Downloaded Program Files folder. You can view their properties, update them, and remove them by right-clicking entries in that folder.
