Summary

Joining a domain can let you access resources on many other computers. Domains add security to resource–sharing in ways workgroups cannot. By creating a domain account for your computer, you make it part of the computers that can be managed and maintained by domain administrators. You can create a domain user account for yourself in order to use a single logon username and password to access resources through the domain.
