Running Backup from the Command Line
Like most components of Windows XP, you can run the Backup Utility from the command line. In previous versions of Windows, this was normally done to schedule backup jobs to occur automatically. Since Windows 2000, however, Backup has included a graphical interface for scheduling backups (which makes things much easier). Nonetheless, you can still use the command-line interface to run backup and there are still a couple of good reasons for doing so. The first is that it is an easy way to manually run a backup job on a remote computer. The second is that the command line can be included in batch files.
The basic command on the command-line interface for running backup is as follows:
