Running the Backup Wizard

When your backup hardware and plan are in place, you can perform an actual backup. You can run the Backup utility by going to Start, Accessories, System Tools, Backup. The opening Backup screen offers three options: running the Backup Wizard, the Restore Wizard, and the Automated System Recovery Wizard.

Tip

Before you begin any backup operation, it would be a good idea to defragment your hard drive and also scan for viruses. These actions will ensure an efficient and clean backup.

To run the Backup Wizard, follow these steps:

In the Backup Utility Window, click Advanced to launch the Backup Wizard.
