Hardware Can Make a Difference
Some previous versions of Backup in Windows only allowed you to back up to a supported tape drive. In Windows 2000 and now in Windows XP, backups are created as a single file that can be stored on any drive accessible by Windows. This includes tape; CD-R (recordable); CD-RW (rewriteable), Zip, hard, and floppy disks (if you happen to have a few hundred lying around). They can also be stored on a shared folder on a network and even in a folder on the Internet.
