Managing Individual Processes

The Processes tab contains information about all of the processes running on your computer. Each application that runs under Windows XP can run as a single process, or it may launch several processes. Additionally, the operating system itself runs a large number of processes in the background. For each network service, for example, one or more processes run on your computer. Processes for the printing spooler function wait in the background, ready to accept printing requests, and then send them out to the designated printer.
