Sharing Files with the Computer Management Utility

In Chapter 9, “Working With Files and Folders,” you learned how to share files and folders using the Windows Explorer. As a system administrator, you have the option to use the Computer Management utility to share files, folders, and volumes quickly and easily.

Windows XP creates some file shares automatically to give those with administrative rights the ability to connect to the root of any disk volume. The share name of these files is composed of the drive letter follow by a dollar sign. Thus, the F: drive for which you just created a file share for called fshare also has a hidden file share called F$ to which administrative personnel can connect.
