Choosing a Screensaver

Although many manufacturers and computer experts claim that screensavers aren't necessary for preventing “image burn” on modern monitors, screensavers continue to be popular and practical. A good screensaver provides an interesting display, but it also allows you to lock the machine so that when the screensaver kicks in (after a predetermined “idle” time), you need a password to turn it off and return to your work screen. That is a good feature in the office, when you may not want to log off your computer each time you need to step away for a short break. A password-protected screensaver keeps others out of your onscreen business while you are away; you save time and privacy.
