Using Speech Recognition

Windows XP supports input using a microphone for some programs. At this time, you can use speech recognition to dictate using any Microsoft Office XP application, as well as Internet Explorer 6 and Microsoft Outlook Express 6. In addition to enabling dictation of text into an application, speech recognition also permits the issuing of commands for some programs, and this will depend on the particular program. Programs like Wordpad and Notepad are not supported at this time. However, Microsoft may release code in a future service pack that will enable this feature in additional programs.
