Now, let's start talking about a protocol that does a lot of other important work in the TCP/IP suite. Remember that IP just tries to get your packets delivered and provides the addressing capabilities as its basic functions. Also, remember that IP doesn't allow for a reliable connection between two different computers. It leaves that function up to higher-level protocols, and TCP is one of those.
TCP controls the transmission of packets between two computers.
