10.7. Summary

Windows Server 2008 has its feature set fully expressed when Vista is a client, and increasingly less so as older versions of the Windows operating system are connected to Windows Server 2008. There's been a considerable amount of heterogeneous client support built into Windows servers over the years, with particularly strong support of Unix and Linux systems that tend to play significant roles in many enterprise network deployments. This version of Windows Server adds a new Unix subsystem that allows Windows to run ported applications on top of the Windows kernel. For Apple Macintosh, fewer new features are offered.
