14.3. Server Core Management

Server Core is meant to be managed either from the command prompt or remotely. The following services are available for management by utilities, scripts, or agents:

  • Command-line execution. (See the section "Command-Line Commands" later in this chapter.)

  • Remote access through RDP and terminal services.

  • Windows Management Instrumentation.

  • Remote access to MMC snap-ins using RPC or DCOM.

  • Task Schedule utility for job creation and management.

  • Event logging and forwarding.

  • SNMP event trapping.

  • WS-Management and WinRS for remote command-line execution.
