In Windows Server 2008 security is job one. Security enhancements permeate all of the Windows Server 2008 subsystems. You can't launch a program on Windows Server 2008 without running into the User Account Control (UAC), which escalates privileges temporarily. UAC is a feature that is part of Windows Server Hardening, and it's meant to protect vital services, the Registry, access to system files, and certain aspects of network access from unauthorized use.
