Chapter 13. Internet Information Services

Internet Information Services (IIS; formerly called Internet Information Server) version 7.0 is a completely restructured version of Microsoft's popular web server. The entire application has been reworked as a set of over 40 modules, some of them core services, and each is accessible with its own API. You can extend IIS with additional modules from third-party developers, as well as configure a custom installation to perform the tasks your website requires.
