5.4. Group Policy Preferences

Starting with Windows Server 2008 RC1, Microsoft integrated a set of policy tools that were obtained in the acquisition of DesktopStandard into their base Windows Server 2008 installations. The feature, now called Group Policy Preferences, was part of the PolicyMaker Standard Edition and PolicyMaker Share Manage products that DesktopStandard sold as domain policy add-ons. Preferences are part of the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC) for Windows Server 2008 and can also be enforced by the Remote Administration Tools (RSAT) that can be installed on Windows Vista SP1.
