Using Biometrics for Authentication

Biometrics (something you are) is a much more secure method of authentication compared to the something you know and something you have methods mentioned previously. Biometrics measures specific physical information about a user. For example, everyone has unique fingerprints. Because they’re unique, fingerprints can be used to accurately validate a user’s identity.

Biometric authentication is configured by capturing a sample of the biometric information ahead of time. This data is stored in an authentication database, and when the user tries to authenticate, the database information is compared to the authentication attempt. If the data matches, the user is successfully authenticated.
