Identifying the Requirements
There are two primary requirements to do this lab:
Windows 7 Professional or Windows 7 Ultimate Windows Virtual PC is a built-in feature of Windows 7. Although there are many other virtual tools you can use, this lab is written for Windows 7.
Extra Memory You should have at least 1.5 GB of random access memory (RAM) to do these labs. Microsoft says you need a minimum of 1 GB of RAM for Windows 7 on 32-bit systems and a minimum of 2 GB on 64-bit systems. You can run a virtual instance of Windows Server 2008 with as little as 512 MB. However, these are minimums; and in general, you won’t find it a very satisfying experience with these amounts.
