Protecting a Network

Attackers are out there constantly trying to attack networks. Some use common well-known methods, and others are trying to learn and exploit new methods. It’s important to have a basic understanding of the different types of attacks used today and some common methods you can employ to protect a network.

Network-based firewalls are commonly used by organizations with Internet access. They provide network isolation for the internal network. There are many different firewall choices; however, many organizations use hardware-based firewall appliances that provide multiple layers of protection.
