If you manually install multiple security updates on target computers, use the QChain tool. sousing QChain.exe ensures that the most current version of any DLL or executable is retained. If the operating system is Windows XP, Windows 2000 with Service Pack 3 or later, or Windows Server 2003, QChain is not required because the QChain functionality is built in.
Maintain a copy of the Office installation files. The application of software updates for Microsoft Office 2000 and Office XP requires access to the original installation source files. Office 2003 might not require access if the original installation files are maintained on the client and were not deleted during the installation process.
