AutoMovie Basics

AutoMovie is by no means hard to use, and in fact is wizard-driven, but a few minutes of introduction will enable you to use it more effectively without a lot of time-consuming trial and error.

AutoMovie has several characteristics you should consider before blindly diving in:

  • It cuts all videos into segments of three to six seconds. This is great for MTV-style music videos, but not so great if you're trying to capture the wedding toast in its entirety.

  • If you insert a background music track, Movie Maker produces a movie the length of the music track. If you don't, Movie Maker produces a movie three minutes long, or 3:13, if you consider the opening title and closing credits.
