Capturing Live Video

Capturing live is convenient for short videos, like those you might send via e-mail, where you don't want to take the time to tape and then capture. You can capture live from any device that can output an analog video signal, including DV cameras (connected via the analog outputs), analog cameras, and Web cameras (Web cams).

Here I'll capture a short video with the Logitech QuickCam orbit, a sexy stalk of a camera that captures both high-quality video and audio.

To capture live video

Do one of the following:
  • In the Movie Tasks pane, click Capture from Video Device (Figure 5.8).
  • From the Movie Maker menu, choose File > Capture Video (Figure 5.9).
  • Press Ctrl+R.
