Creating the Disk Image

After you run Sysprep on a master installation, you can create the disk image by using a third-party program. Microsoft does not provide a disk-imaging program. The section "Disk-Imaging Tools," earlier in this chapter describes four of the more popular disk-imaging products, however. Regardless, disk imaging typically involves the following steps:

  1. Start the master computer by using a removable disk or starting it from the network (Windows Preinstallation Environment). The third-party disk-imaging product might include a startup disk that contains the software.

  2. Run the third-party disk-imaging program to create an image of the master installation.

  3. Save the image in a shared folder or write the image directly to a CD or DVD. ...
