Office Chaining

After Office 2003 Setup program installs the core Microsoft Office 2003 Editions package, it calls Windows Installer to install any number of chained packages in the order that you specify them in the setup settings file (Setup.ini). You customize chained packages by setting properties in Setup.ini or by creating a transform that includes the Add Installations and Run Programs screen.

The setup program reads the Setup.ini file at the start of the installation process and writes a set of tasks to the registry that installs each package listed in the ChainedInstall_1 through ChainedInstall_ n sections.
