25. Managing Disks and Memory

For many users, making Windows run their way means optimizing Windows for the fastest possible performance. Two of the key factors in system performance are your computer’s hard disk and memory; the more you have of each, the better your system performance will be.

But it’s not just about speed. For example, a fragmented hard disk will run slower than a clean disk, as will one with bad sectors or physical errors. You need to know how to manage your computer’s hard disk and system memory to get the most out of what you have—and then consider adding more, if you really need it.
