9. Extending Windows Media

Windows media—music, videos, even photos—don’t have to be limited to viewing and playback on your desktop or notebook computer. With the right tools, you can play music, watch movies, and view photos on other computers connected via your network or the Internet, or on television sets in your living room or around your house. It’s a matter of extending Windows media—your way.

Using Windows Media Center in the Living Room

When you want to extend Windows media for viewing on your living room TV—and on other TVs in other rooms—you use something called Windows Media Center. This is a special “10-foot interface” to Windows media, included with most versions of Microsoft Windows 7.
