Summary

The Internet is like the Old West in that it is a place where almost anything can happen. The rules are still being made for what you can and cannot do on the Internet, yet with the development of new protocols and services, new security problems crop up all the time. A good system administrator stays up to date with security issues that relate not only to the operating system and applications in use on the network, but also to new threats that appear on the Internet.

Ongoing user education is an often overlooked security asset. Keeping users informed about new security issues, both threats and the means being used to combat them, can be a good proactive approach to take to protect yourself from new threats.
