The TCP/IP Suite

Microsoft's TCP/IP stack is a 32-bit implementation of the industry-standard TCP/IP protocol. It consists of core protocols, services, and the connections that allow them to communicate. As each new version of Windows NT is released, new features and services are added to improve both performance and reliability.

The TCP/IP suite for Windows 2000 was designed to make it easy to integrate Microsoft systems into large-scale networks and to provide the ability to operate over those networks in a secure manner. Standard features with Windows 2000 include the following:

  • Logical and physical multi-homing

  • Internal IP routing capability
