Color Spaces

Every device context has an application-definable color space. A color space is a set of colors in which each color is uniquely identified by a set of color coordinates. There are three types of color spaces that image color matching provides: device RGB (red, green, blue), device CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black), and calibrated RGB.

Device RGB and device CMYK are device color spaces that allow applications to use the colors of any arbitrary output device. The device RGB color space is the default color space for all device contexts. The device CMYK color space is typically used with printers that use CMYK color values.
