Adding a Web Reference to a Project

You have created a Web service and a Web method to return the documents in your MyDocuments folder. Now you need to use it within the personal portal. Visual Web Developer enables you to reference Web services you create and make available externally. You can add a Web service to your project by creating a Web reference.

To create a Web reference

  1. Right-click the personal portal project in Solution Explorer. Select Add Web Reference.

    The Add Web Reference dialog box displays. (See Figure 12-18.) There are three options to browse to: Web Services In This Solution, Web Services In This Local Machine, and Browse UDDI Servers On The Local Network.
