Planning Your Upgrade

When upgrading an application to Visual Basic .NET, always begin by clearly defining the goals and objectives for the upgrade. Why are you moving to .NET? What do you hope to achieve? Document your choices and the rationale behind them.

Creating a Plan

Next, create a plan, even if it's simple one. What steps will you take? What activities are required? How much effort will it take? When it's time to start upgrading, begin your upgrade process by attempting to locate and correct any known incompatibilities in your existing Visual Basic 6.0 application.
