Creating a Change Request from a Configuration Item

Another way to initiate a change request is directly from a configuration item. This can be done for any configuration item in the CMDB, including users, computers, and printers.

For example, suppose a user has requested that his or her mobile phone number be changed in Active Directory.

To create a configuration request from a CI, complete the following steps:

1. Launch the Service Manager console.

2. Select the Configuration Items space.

3. Select the Users folder.

4. Locate the user for the change using the Search function.

Note

The CMDB can be searched using the Search field in the upper-right corner of the console. This searches the entire CMDB by default.
