Targeting a Hyper-V Host Across a Firewall

DPM 2012 uses a number of DCOM (Distributed Component Object Model) commands to deploy DPM agents, back up and restore data, and retrieve DPM agent statuses. Because DCOM uses a combination of static and dynamic network ports, DPM may not be able to communicate with a Hyper-V host that is behind a firewall. In order to ensure that DPM can communicate with a host across a firewall, several key points must be addressed specific to the configuration of the firewall and the DPM server.
