Protecting a SharePoint Farm
The steps used to protect SharePoint data using DPM are almost identical regardless of whether you are trying to only protect Windows SharePoint Services or an entire SharePoint farm. For the purposes of this example, the following steps describe how to protect a SharePoint farm:
1. While logged on to the DPM server as a domain user account that is a member of the local administrators group, open the DPM 2012 Administrator Console.
2. Next, click Protection on the navigation bar, and then click New in the toolbar.
3. Once the Create New Protection Group Wizard has started, click past the Welcome page, select the Servers Protection Group Type option, and then click Next.
