How to Conduct a Self-Service Restore

In DPM 2012, a new feature called the DPM Self Service Recovery Tool allows authorized SQL Server database owners to perform self-service database recoveries without the need of intervention by a DPM administrator. To configure this feature, the DPM administrator must first create a DPM role, which grants authorized SQL Server database owners the needed DPM rights to perform recovery operations for databases that they own. To create the DPM role, complete the following steps:

1. While logged on to the DPM server as a domain user account that is a member of the local administrators group, open the DPM Management Shell.

2. Next, execute the following command to create the DPM role:

$Role = New-DPMRole –Name ...
