Protecting SharePoint Farms

Unfortunately, certain components in a SharePoint farm rely on other components for the farm to function. For example, the configuration database and the Central Administration content database of a SharePoint farm must be in sync. Naturally, keeping these two databases in perfect sync tends to add a certain amount of complexity when it comes to backup and recovery procedures. That is why until DPM introduced the ability to protect an entire SharePoint farm, the options for SharePoint data protection were a bit limited.
