Step Four: Calculate the Storage Requirements

The fourth step in the DPM planning process is to calculate the storage requirement for the DPM deployment. Unfortunately, correctly calculating the exact amount of storage that DPM will require happens to be a bit of a dark art. To help administrators through this very difficult process with Data Protection Manager, the DPM product team provided a set of storage calculators and a volume sizing tool. Starting with Data Protection Manager 2010, a number of underlying changes have been designed to increase the scalability of a single DPM server, for example:
