Creating a Custom Management Pack

Custom management packs can be created using the Authoring Console. Outside of the Authoring Console’s GUI interface, an XML file can also be created with an XML editor.

For this example, a custom management pack is authored looking for the RootVer value to not equal 1 in the Registry. Demonstrated in the example is how to create a clean management pack, create a discovery, test the discovery, create additional rules, then seal and save the management pack.

To create a custom management pack, complete the following steps:

1. Launch the Authoring Console.

2. Go to File, and then to New.
