SQL Cluster Configuration

For the most part, the SQL Management Pack detects and monitors SQL clusters. There are a couple of prerequisites and suggested changes to effectively monitor the clusters.

When monitoring clustered SQL installations, ensure that each node of the cluster has an OpsMgr agent installed. In addition, the Agent Proxy setting must be enabled per node in the cluster. This allows the nodes to discover and report on the virtual instances of SQL.

Key monitors in the SQL Management Pack check the state of services. These monitors have the parameter “Alert Only If service Startup Type Is Automatic” that is set to True by default, which means that it checks services that are set to start automatically. On servers in a cluster, the ...
